    A New Year, A New Law

    “I believe that midwives have a passion and a commitment to the prenatal care process and the labor and delivery process that’s really excellent,” said Assemblywoman Bonilla. “This is a historic new law because it finally ensures that women who choose to have midwives deliver their babies, will have the peace-of-mind knowing that proper safeguards are in place to provide them with physician care if necessary.”

     

    With the dawning of the new year, came new regulations for midwives.  While our scope of practice remains the same — attending cases of normal pregnancy and birth — the definition of normal has changed a bit.
